"At one point, I simply felt it was time to express a very personal vision through my own record label. Back then, it came to me very naturally in reaction to a long running overload of too strictly functional club music. Being a child of Hip Hop & Detroit Techno, I simply wanted to try to bring another view of the musical universe that inspired me so much. The label has been nothing more than the expression of my musical fantasies" recalls Dairmount, the respected 41 years old founder & soul behind Room with A View. "I created a virtual room that allowed me to share different musical perspectives with like minded people and leave space for their own imagination & interpretation"
Half a decade later and with nearly 40 releases under its belt, the Berlin based label keeps pushing its unique brand of emotive dance music into the bags and playlists of the game’s most heralded names across the global House, Techno & Nu Disco scenes. Counting famous fans on the left & right of the House & Techno heritage, it is quite unusual to see dj's as diverse as Scuba, Axel Boman, Laurent Garnier, Danny Krivit, Tensnake or Kink excited by the same label output.
"Across the years, the label founded its natural place amongst the Deep House lovers across the world (with loyal fanbases in UK, USA, South Africa & of course Germany) but i never intended to see RWAV as a Deep House label but more as a personal platform for "left of centre" House & Techno rich heritage" insists the Belgian born A&R, strong of 20 years of activism & dj career. "Five years down the line, I still believe that honesty has probably been the most important element of our success and I truly believe that people can really sense this in artistic works. There has never been big world domination plans behind the label but more focused ideas and inspirations. Friendship has also been a major part of our story. Most of the artists who contributed to the label have been friends for years and everything happened very naturally". This is why the rich catalogue of the label includes an impressive list of versatile contributors including Motor City Drum Ensemble, Jimpster, Dave Aju, Iron Galaxy, Detroit Swindle, Basic Soul Unit, Aaron Carl, Art Of Tones, Marlow, Sasse, Andreas Saag or Dj Honesty. "Timeless and emotional content are words I like to use carefully to tend to define my definition of club music" insists Dairmount. "It is a kind of a benchmark I always wished to reach somehow. It is something I always have in mind when signing new music but it is also much more simple than that. I simply sign music that I feel strongly has a genuine identity, made my mind travel and my booty shake. This is the only red line I see across the catalogue of the label. By nature, music is a medium of emotions and I don’t see why club music would not carry these"
To celebrate its 5th anniversary, Room With A View propose you a high quality line-up of long time friends & artists who contributed closely to represent the label ethos : label boss Dairmount will share the decks with his dear friends Atjazz, the legendary UK dj, producer and mentor who keeps redefining the sense of the word "deepness" for 20 years, Kyodai, the Spanish brothers whose irresistible rise & intensive touring didn't stop them to release their anthem "What You Give" on RWAV last year besides big releases on Local Talk, Freerange or Exploited and André Lodemann, the respected Berlin production master who released "Vehemence Of Silence" & "Don't Panic", 2 landmark releases of the label's history, which also pretty much introduced him to a global audience back then.
