Summer 2019 brings us the fourth edition of the Berlin Hummus Festival, and after so many beautiful moments in the previous editions, we feel that we hardly need to explain the project again. However, it is still important to emphasize the one eminent basis for this event: our unconditional love for the chickpea.
In the past, we felt the need to dwell on the history of Hummus and its development into a world popular dish. However, for us, organizers and hummus vendors at the festival, people from various backgrounds and one uniting love for the dish, this doesn't matter.
Whether Syrian, Lebanese or Egyptian, it is safe to say that Hummus is an Arabic dish which was happily adopted in most countries in the middle east, and has been making its way in recent years into the heart of western societies - being introduced on the shelves in supermarket chains, sold on food events and incorporated an an important feature in vegan lifestyle.
Once again we meet on a beautiful Sunday afternoon of late August and we feast our stomachs with various interpretations of the dish, while feasting our souls with wonderful music, influenced both by the region Hummus comes from and our local Berlin underground scene, combining arabic elements with electronic beats.
We invite you to join us, to come with empty stomachs and open minds, and be part of our growing Hummus community.
