African Beats & Pieces | Congo Crush: From Brazza To Kinshasa

African Beats & Pieces is an event series dedicated to the music of Africa and its diaspora.

With a special focus on contemporary and lesser-known artists, we strive to showcase the diversity of sounds and songs the continent has to offer, doing so through theme-specific parties involving passionate diggers & DJs.

Congolese music actually refers to the bottomless wells of great music from TWO countries: the Republic of the Congo (Congo-Brazzaville) and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (ex-Zaïre, Congo-Kinshasa).

Both nations have been pumping out an endless flow of incredible dance music and great bands for a century, each genius generation learning from their elders and bringing its own style to the game.

Alas, one night won’t be enough for our amazing & super-knowledgeable guest from Switzerland - AYO WA (Glad We Met/Laisse Tomber les Filles) - to go through all her favourite Rumba, Soukous, Kwassa-Kwassa and Ndombolo bangers! 

We strive to bring you here what the locals dance(d) to there!
