Almost 20 years ago Cabinet Records forged a new sound esthetic in European club music, a very distinctive blend of stripped down, explosive 909 drum programming, subtle acid bass lines and melodic touches of latin, jazz and funk music. It was 1996, it was fresh and very inspirational for many producers and labels to come.
It`s not a case that during the long break of Cabinet from operation (2005 - 2011), Plus 8 collected the best of Cabinet`s released and unreleased material into a very essential (and now sought) 2 x 12" vinyl and CD compilation.
After dropping back in the days some essential and now hard-to-find 12" by the likes of Cab Drivers, Horsehoe, The Poorknight, Compass and Honey Drop aka Honesty, today Cabinet is back on shape with a catalogue of renewed quality, always keeping that elegance, purity and power of sound that made it unique at its start.
After the recent Loveschock/Atrium EP by Daniel Paul and Honesty, next on Cabinet is Big Sur EP by Honesty, hitting the shelves in mid December.
On 06 December we have a few reason to celebrate...with label founder Daniel Paul, fellow Honesty and Mitch, shop owner of the highly influential House special retailer Melting Point.
