For the 6th year in a row we are sitting here and writing a text that is supposed to put the Carnival de Purim into words as best as possible - but the bigger the event, the more difficult it seems to be. How can you highlight the boundless joy, the colorful diversity and the open spirit of this festival without neglecting its political importance?
In fact, every year we notice the importance of emphasizing a fundamental truth: darkness cannot be conquered with darkness. Therefore, it is downright our duty to do exactly what the Purim holiday expects of us: to spread light, ease and laughter, to have fun and to lose ourselves with all our senses in another edition of our annual spectacle.
As every year, our program tries to connect various musical worlds. On the Main Live Floor, the 10 members of the celebrated, modern klezmer band "The Jewish Monkeys" will try to squeeze themselves and their instruments onto the small stage of the Ritter Butzke, which is actually intended more for DJs and poetry slams. That could be interesting. On the same floor, a handpicked selection of DJs from Israel, Palestine and Istanbul will take you on a stimulating journey that will take you from east to west, from Jewish to oriental culture, to melodies and chants. A unique experience!
The second floor will - as always - be the room in which Berlin comes into play: Several local icons - whether cropped or not - will lead the program, with support from a newcomer from Iraq and two artists from Tel Aviv.
Things could get a bit rougher on the 3rd backyard floor - faster beats and techno are served for the more advanced ravers among you. Raw, of course.
Carnival de Purim is a costume party. There is no fixed motto, you have the free choice - but we ask you to be creative anyway. Our team will reward you for this at the party! When choosing your costume, please also keep in mind that some people are more sensitive than others - so please try to be considerate and not hurt other people's feelings (even if that was never our intention.)
Carnival de Purim is a celebration according to Jewish tradition, but we welcome every philanthropist. People with racist, xenophobic, sexist and homophobic ideas do not fall into this category and therefore do not belong to our party.
In order to keep the queues at the club entrance short, we recommend that you buy your tickets in advance, bring as few items with you as possible and have an ID card ready for the age check.
We wish you an unforgettable night with us! And when you drink alcohol, don't forget the famous Purim proverb: AD DELO YADA (until you can no longer distinguish between good and bad)!
