Tonic Motion is the brainchild of none / such & Femme Bass Mafia - an inaugural multifaceted day-long event will take place at: // about blank’s Sektagarten on Friday, the 16th of July.
Throughout this project, we aspire to offer an inclusive cultural and educational experience, as well as a springboard for our local communities. Particularly focusing on empowering folks who identify themselves as female, non-binary, and transgender in the context of club culture and bass music, we look forward to seeing you all there.
The first Tonic Motion will consist of DJ workshops, a panel and musical performances - overarchingly, the themes revolve around empowering and providing opportunities within our scenes and spaces. The project is developed and organized through a close cooperation between none / such and Femme Bass Mafia. FBM provides DJ mentorship programs that aim to provide safer spaces for female, non-binary and transgender folks. At Femme Bass Mafia, the 12-week long mentorships are led by Berlin based DJ’s and bass music enthusiasts who pass on and share their knowledge across the cohorts.
First, we'll kick off with two DJ workshops which are open to all. Led by Femme Bass Mafia, this will be a great opportunity to get a gentle introduction into the art of DJing for everyone who's been curious to try out themselves one day. Next up will be the curated panel, centered around the topic “Bass Music: Diversity Behind the Decks and on the Dancefloor” - we've invited four amazing people who will share and discuss their views and opinions in an open format. Thanks a lot especially to Amy, who will be moderating. Lastly, we'll have the mentees line-up alongside more established artists for the latter half of the event, culminating in four special, exciting and powerful sets.

Further information for the event is going to be released in the next couple of weeks leading up to it. Be aware: the panel will be in English, no BSL interpreter available. Audio of the talk is getting recorded and will be available as a full transcript afterwards, as well as the original version.
