Every year the magic of Christmas attracts around 800,000 fans of traditional Christmas spirit to the historic backdrop of the Gendarmenmarkt. Due to construction work, the Christmas market will take place at nearby Bebelplatz from 2022 to 2024. Between the State Opera, the law faculty of the Humboldt University and the Hotel de Rome. The stars at the top of the characteristic booths with white hoods compete with the large Christmas tree in the center of the square.
Artists, craftsmen and entertainers
The Christmas Magic is known and popular for its wide range of artistic offerings. A large tent serves as a demonstration room for craftsmen. There, wood carvers, comb makers and tailors, among others, show off their skills. Handmade candles, toys and decorative items can be purchased as original gifts.
Culinary delicacies at Christmas time
In addition to the traditional roasted almonds, chestnuts and mulled wine variations, visitors will also find unusual nibbles and selected menus. In the heated and covered catering area, no one has to gulp down their food before it gets cold, but can instead feast comfortably in the warmth.
Social commitment
A portion of the entrance fees is donated every year to cultural and social institutions in Berlin.
Note: The Christmas magic Gendarmenmarkt will take place from 2022 to 2024 at Bebelplatz in front of the State Opera.

Admission: 1 €, children up to 12 years free, Monday to Friday from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
