Impressive atmosphere, extraordinary stalls and traditional craftsmanship: There are good reasons why Berlin's Christmas magic is one of the most popular Christmas markets.
Every year, the Christmas magic attracts around 800,000 friends of traditional Christmas spirit to the historic setting of Gendarmenmarkt. Due to construction work, the Christmas market will take place at nearby Bebelplatz from 2022 to 2024. Between the State Opera, the law faculty of Humboldt University, St. Hedwig's Cathedral and the Hotel de Rome. the stars at the top of the characteristic white-topped stalls compete with the large Christmas tree in the center of the square to shine brightly.
Artists, craftsmen and entertainers
The Christmas magic is well-known and popular for its wide range of artistic offerings. A large tent serves as a demonstration room for artisans. Wood carvers, comb makers and tailors, among others, show off their skills there. Hand-made candles, toys and decorative items can be bought as original gifts.
Culinary delicacies at Christmas time
In addition to the traditional roasted almonds, chestnuts and mulled wine variations, visitors will also find unusual snacks and selected menus. In the heated and covered catering area, no one has to wolf down their food before it gets cold, but can feast comfortably in the warmth.
Social commitment
A portion of the entrance fees is donated every year to cultural and social institutions in Berlin.
