Berlin could hardly show off a more colorful side: Numerous groups of different nationalities offer music, dance, performance, visual arts and acrobatics on moving floats at the Carnival of Cultures.
Over four festival days, Berliners and tourists experience the capital from its best side: cosmopolitan and international, dynamic and full of life, diverse and colorful. Over 500,000 people have been celebrating the city's colorful mix every year at Pentecost since 1995.
Carnival of Cultures with over 5000 participants
Over 5000 actors from almost all parts of the world are usually there. From Brazilian samba to Chinese lion dance, from West African drums to Bernese carnival brass bands, the carnival groups impressively prove that Berlin's treasure is its diversity and internationality. In addition to the four-day street festival, the parade is the highlight of the carnival.
The route for the KdK street parade 2024
The route for the street parade of the Carnival of Cultures 2024 starts on May 19th at around 2 p.m. at the corner of Gneisenaustrasse and Mehringdamm and leads via Gneisenaustrasse and Hasenheide to Hermannplatz.
Street festival around Blücherplatz
But it's not just the parade itself that's worth a visit - the street festival around Blücherplatz also invites you to discover the diversity of cultures. A colorful program is offered on several stages. There is theater, performance, interactive and magical things not only for young carnivalists. Those interested will also find information stands from sustainable companies and initiatives, a solar craft station, organic crepes and other delicacies. A total of 350 stands with arts and crafts, culinary delights and information ensure that the time at the festival is not boring. An age-appropriate program is offered for families with children.
