Before A Summer's Tale took place for the first time in 2015, some rubbed their eyes in disbelief at the first announcement. For many, the combination of an open air festival and a short break in the countryside with a cultural and active program sounded too good to be true. In the coming year, the festival is now going into its fifth round. The word got around that A Summer's Tale lives up to its name! From August 1 to 4, 2019, the Luhmühlen Event Park will once again be transformed into a unique microcosm of summer joys. The first items on the program have now been set.
With a view to the concerts, you can look forward to an extremely exciting musical mix that invites you to dance and indulge yourself. Above all, the successful British band Elbow has confirmed for A Summer's Tale 2019. The quintet from Manchester has always known how to bring out the most sensual sides of rock - a guarantee for impressive live moments! Pop-rock in the best possible sense comes from the Danish musician Tina Dico. Sometimes folky-country-esque, sometimes poetic-thoughtful, sometimes dark or elf-soft, she masters all the timbres of her genre and also knows how to present them skilfully on stage. Anyone who thirsts for indie hits and dance tunes will be particularly pleased about the confirmation of the energetic band Maximo Park from Newcastle. With the American soul singer Lee Fields & The Expressions, born in 1951, a true exception in the music scene could be won for the festival. The first wave of concert announcements is completed by the British alternative rockers The Charlatans, the Berlin pop creatives Die Höchste Eisenbahn, the Balkan beat collective Shantel & Bucovina Club Orkestar, and the Hamburg avant-garde punk Die Goldenen Zitronen.
The first names have also been set for the cultural stages and the active program. Thorsten Nagelschmidt, author and head of the band Muff Potter, is guesting for the first time at a festival with his literary "reading and lab show" Nagel mit Köpf. Which guests he will have with him remains a surprise for the time being. What is certain is that it will be very entertaining! Experience has shown that no eye stays dry when the duo animals stroke people from Berlin. This is where happiness and nonsense meet and break through in the form of musical and spoken passages in a crazy way. Author Anja Rützel, who had to cancel this year due to illness, brings with her new book "Better to be alone than no friends at all!" after their appearance in their luggage. Behind the artist name Bummelkasten hides the Berlin musician Bernhard Lütke, who knows how to combine children's music with comedy elements in such a way that children and parents can really enjoy it. That's why he shouldn't be missing at A Summer's Tale 2019.
"Hot Shots" are healthy, small immune boosters, often based on ginger or turmeric. At A Summer's Tale 2019, visitors learn how to make them yourself from Nina Sonntag (Hamburger Herdgeflüster). The workshop "Make up your mind. Right" gives insights into decision psychology. In the "Drum Circle" there is lively drumming and jamming, while the "FeetUp Yoga" course provides participants with a change of perspective. The "Elephant Walk" helps to recognize personal strengths and the younger festival guests can let off steam at the "Circus Yoga for Kids".
In the coming weeks and months, the program for A Summer's Tale 2019 will continue to fill up. As in previous years, in addition to the concerts, visitors can look forward to numerous readings, comedy performances, show formats, films and numerous workshops for almost every taste. Nature lovers will love the green and spacious festival area. Since A Summer's Tale takes place when the heather is in bloom, the region then shows itself from its most impressive side.
