Christmas market at Gendarmenmarkt

Every year, the magic of Christmas attracts around 800,000 fans of the traditional Christmas spirit to the historic backdrop of the Gendarmenmarkt. Due to construction work, the Christmas market will take place in the years 2022 to 2024 at the nearby Bebelplatz. Between the State Opera, the Law Faculty of the Humboldt University and the Hotel de Rome. the stars at the top of the characteristic white-topped stalls compete with the large Christmas tree in the center of the square.

Artists, craftsmen and entertainers
The Christmas Magic is known and popular for its wide range of artistic offerings. A large tent serves as a demonstration room for artisans. There, among others, wood carvers, comb makers and tailors show their skills. Handmade candles, toys and decorative items can be bought as original gifts.

Culinary delicacies at Christmastime
In addition to the traditional roasted almonds, chestnuts and mulled wine variations, visitors will also find unusual snacks and selected menus. In the heated and covered gastronomy area, nobody has to wolf down their food before it cools down, but can feast comfortably in the warmth.

Social commitment
Part of the entrance fee is donated to cultural and social institutions in Berlin every year.
