Opening of the 10th Open Air Cinema Season - Club Culture Screening Tour
It was ten years ago when I went to Berlin clubs with my mobile 35mm film projectors from the GDR and turned the locations into open-air art house cinemas for a film. For ten years I have been roaming Berlin's cultural and club life with my handcart full of projectors and films.

With the beginning of the end of the pandemic, we're going back to the clubs. In the various locations of Berlin's subculture, we will show you the brand new documentary "Clubkultur Berlin" by Leonie Gerner & Andrea Schumacher with the protagonists on site.
With the pandemic, an industry and subculture, along with their income, income, and almost taboo-free retreats and colorful personalities have disappeared. Will there be going back, and if so, what new form of CLUB CULTURE will emerge? What influence does the dying of the clubs have on the mental health of those for whom clubs were not just a place to party, but a place of work or shelter where they could live out lust and vice without judgment?

The directors Leonie Gerner & Andrea Schumacher have produced a critical, fast-paced documentary. A documentary in which club operators, musicians, DJs and psychologists have their say, and previously unpublished footage from the clubs can be shown.

The topic is highly explosive, because the loss of lightheartedness and openness affects an international target group from New York to Tel Aviv - who only came to Berlin for one reason: to experience 'once in a lifetime' everything that is taboo elsewhere. Inside Berlin’s club scene: for many hope, longing and elixir from a fading memory of intimacy, sex, music, ecstasy and joy. We are sure that our Open Air Cinema Tour is currently the absolutely right platform to reach viewers who want nothing more than to be able to immerse themselves in the multi-faceted Berlin club scene. Into the "Roaring 20s" of our century.
