Female Fronted Is Not A Genre
For a long time, the attribute 'female-fronted' was not a distinction, but a popular alibi in the event industry.
Recently, the Cock am Ring initiative caused a stir and indicated a need for action: a lineup with 24 mostly female acts drew media attention to the predominantly ridiculous proportion of women at well-known music festivals. Even in normal touring, it still looks like this. Live packages are still dominated by male performers.
The Berlin band Kill Her First wants to change that. It was formed in 2007 as an all-female hardcore band. When they were recently looking for new guitar staff, they couldn't find a female applicant.
Together with the Lido Berlin, Kill Her First wants to bring together other (partially) female bands from the heavier music genreto make a statement, encourage and generate attention. Future Palace, Swoon, Eat My Fear and Empire of Giants will be there.
