NYX is the Greek goddess (or personification) of the night.
The daughter of Chaos, a shadowy figure, Nyx stood at or near the beginning of creation and mothered other personified deities such as Hypnos (Sleep) and Thanatos (Death), with Erebus (Darkness). Her appearances are sparse in surviving mythology, but reveal her as a figure of such exceptional power and beauty, that she is feared by Zeus himself.
NYX was an ancient deity usually envisaged as the very substance of the night--a veil of dark mists drawn across the sky to obscure the light of Aither, the shining blue of the heavens.
Black-winged NYX, some say, laid a germless egg in the infinite bosom of Erebus, the Darkness of the Underworld, and after long ages, sprang golden-winged Eros. Nyx is Night, a powerful goddess whose dark light falls from the stars, and who dictates not only to men, but to gods.
On the fourteenth day of the eight month, when darkness falls, the summer rites shall commence. A sonic ritual of flesh, conjuring mythical and contemporary forces in worship of the night.
