To anyone following the Hardwax history, this man needs little introduction. Few have helped shape Berlin's soundscape as much as Substance aka DJ Pete.
A real key figure when it comes to giving the techno capital it's dub and Detroit sound from the early days. Comparing his first releases on Chain Reaction with his latest output on Ostgut Ton & Scuba's Hotflush Recordings, you quickly realize Pete is unswayed by hype preferring to create timeless music.
His time working at Hardwax along with residencies at both Berghain and Tresor helped form his DJ style and his deep understanding of music. We are thrilled to have this legend in the booth for you on our opening night.
With releases on renowned labels such as Cocoon and LTD 400 and representing one-half of The Afternoon Coffee Boys, Tim Xavier moved to Berlin after living in Chicago and New York. This is where he choose to establish his label Face to Face Recordings. The man from Portland started on his path as a DJ way back in the nineties and his latest Boiler Room appearance proves his quality as a selector of the finest grooving techno. We are honored to have him on board.
