See you on the dancefloor!
+ Elderbrook (London) (https://soundcloud.com/elderbrook)
To call Elderbrook an electronic artist would be to undermine his many talents as a singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. Alexander Kotz is the very definition of “versatile”, a modern day triple threat - his musical influences range from country and soul to rock and gospel, whilst he’s classically trained in piano and guitar. Despite this, it was Elderbrook’s undoubtedly dancefloor-orientated collaboration with German duo Andhim that first cast him into the dance world spotlight; his distinctive lilting vocals resounding in clubs across the world, with Mixmag naming it one of their top tracks of 2015. Prior to this he’d released just one debut EP under the Elderbrook moniker, ‘Could’ - with the title track currently sitting at a cool 5.3 million streams on Spotify alone.
+ Shy Luv (Manchester) (https://soundcloud.com/shy-luv)
Sam Knowles produces electronic dance music under the name Karma Kid. But he also has a second project which tends even more to mainstream pop and is called Shy Luv. Along with Jake Norman, the Mancunian DJ produces danceable ditties for clubs and the charts. “Don’t Let Me Down” or “Shock Horror”, which is featured by the singer Jones, are examples for this consciously polished pop. Each song goes right to your core. Shy Luv’s songs make one jump through the summer and this is what Knowles and Norman aim at. There are four tracks on their EP “Shock Horror” (Black Butter) but there is certainly more coming from this creative duo.
+ BLVTH (Berlin) (https://soundcloud.com/blvth)
We can feel BLVTH’s restlessness in his tracks. He sees his music in playlists with R.L. Grime, Mura Masa, Hudson Mohawke or Rustie. BLVTH sets an emotional musical atmosphere with powerful synths and flying high-hats, often playing with vocals. His drops are aggressive and melancholic, but give his listeners the power and strength to overcome the frustrations of the Snapchat generation.
+ RIP Swirl (Berlin) (https://soundcloud.com/ripswirl)
Berlin-based producer RIP Swirl (known amongst his peers as Luka) is said to concern himself with the more solitary ends of hazy R&B and lo-fi dance music sharing stages with artists like Nosaj Thing, Tommy Genesis, Chet Faker, Rejjie Snow, Jacques Greene & more. His production has gathered the attention of the internet scene incl. Annie Mac, i-D, The FADER, NOWNESS, RBMA and Wonderland just to name a few.
+ Grzly Adams (Berlin) (https://soundcloud.com/grzly-adams)
As a member of Berlin’s new generation of Hip-Hop DJs, Grzly Adams began his career on the decks in Cologne in 1996. In 2003, he moved to Berlin, playing solo-sets at various clubs and continuing to build up a solid household name as a selector of eclectic urban music.
