It is night and the stars are coming out. Living under the constant fog of the big city, you usually hardly notice them when they are scattered thousands of kilometers up. However, those who attended the opening of Paradise Garage last month shared a rare night with them. A night when all the stars lined up and all the dots were connected.
Those who were there can attest: the homage to the legendary Paradise Garage transformed over the course of the night from an attempt at resurrection and nostalgia into a whole new entity - a Paradise Garage made in Berlin.
The colorful performances and festival-like outfits were broken up by the warm chords that filled the room. The music was so alluring, so seductive, that it was impossible to move from one part of the club to another without dancing around. It was as if someone had attached invisible magnets to the speakers, the kind that attract smiles instead of metal.
Those who were there went home knowing that they had had a special experience not easily found in Berlin. The smiles would probably stay with their faces for a whole weekend, and with a little creativity you too could recognize these people and ask them: "Have you been to the Paradise Garage yet?"
Now, a month later, the sensation is back. True to New York's Paradise Garage and its legendary icon Larry Levan, we keep our promise of pure house music and old-school disco on two floors. The third floor remains a surprise, just like last time. The DJ lineup stays secret because you come to Paradise Garage because of Paradise Garage.
The wonderful cadre of artists and creative communities will continue to build this project with us.
In a few days, you too can be among those people who have had a smile smeared across their faces, and you too can be proud to answer the question "Have you ever been to Paradise Garage?" in the affirmative.
See you on Thursday, For The Love of House!
