Because the club's financial situation is not the best, we asked around a bit about why we should continue anyway. Friends, fans and promoters answered: "Within Berlin's club culture, ://about blank has represented a common good-oriented approach without profit interests for almost fifteen years. After the demise of Mensch Meier, it is the last explicitly left-wing techno club in the city. The promotion of flinta*, the self-organization of those working in the nightlife, the collection of money for emancipatory left-wing projects and the provision of spaces for people who want to change society for the better - without Blank there would be less of all of that." We cannot and do not want to contradict that, but do justice to it as long as we can. that's why we're celebrating today with lots of helping hands, so that the solidarity fund rings for us for once.
But money is only one thing: we take a climate of fear into our daily program work. It is created by cancellations and boycotts in the course of the debate about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and it increasingly dominates the club culture scene. We often get feedback that agencies and artists, whether they share all of our positions or not, value ://about blank and would like to work with us, but are currently unable to do so due to concerns about possible negative consequences. DJs are put under pressure to cancel agreed performances at short notice or lose gigs in other venues, agencies lose bookings and worry about their artists and their careers, promoters have to deal with cancellations and shitstorms. A large proportion of the protagonists of Berlin's club culture are now affected by this - far beyond ://about blank. The consequences of shitstorms, cancellations and boycotts can be serious for individuals. Being afraid in this climate is understandable. But fear is not a state that we as a scene should accept. As a scene, we need to talk about it - so that no one has to deal with the consequences alone. the solidarity party therefore begins with a podium discussion against the climate of fear.
